Prayer Thought of the Month

Prayer is the Co-signer of the Promises of God

Jesus made it perfectly clear that men shall always pray. Prayer (along with fasting and meditation) is one of, if not the most essential ingredient to not only staying in contact with God, but to unlocking all the promises He has for us.

It is through prayer where we not only get to petition to God, through Jesus Christ, our wants, desires and needs, but to also offer up supplications and petitions for others. Jesus indicates in two points the importance of how imperative prayer is in relation to obtaining the promises of God when He states in,

Matthew 7: 7-8
7) Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 8) For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

and…

James 4: 2
2) Ye lust, and have not; ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war, yet have not, because ye ask not.

It is only through prayer where we can ask, seek and knock on God’s throne of grace with humility in order to unlock the blessings and miracles He has in store for us. As much as we desire and want the good things in life, God desires that we come to Him in prayer not only because He is our Father and wants to have a relationship with us through constant and consistent communication, but to see if the things we desire align with His will.

Oftentimes, we find out that the things we desire, sometimes can be to our detriment instead of our benefit. That it why it is important to always pray, so that all God’s promises for your life will not be withheld.
